COMING FALL 2026 The Asheville Museum of Science is currently seeking public input for a new community exhibit WORK! coming to AMOS in Fall 2026. WORK! will spotlight women STEAM leaders across Western North Carolina while giving visitors hands-on opportunities to test out the real-life skills needed for their jobs.

As part of this exhibit, AMOS is seeking public nominations for women STEAM leaders who would be interested in sharing their career pathway with visitors. Do you have an innovative or exciting career path that’s unique to WNC? Want to inspire future generations of STEAM leaders in Appalachia? Apply today!
Nominees will embody AMOS’ mission of making interdisciplinary connections in STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) while amplifying the culturally/regionally unique lived experiences of women working in rural Appalachia.
Ideal candidates for this exhibit will serve as community figures that both make STEAM pathways relatable and accessible while also inspiring visitors to reflect on cultural perceptions of women in STEAM careers. We particularly want to hear from BIPOC leaders, voices from rural and remote regions across WNC and the Qualla Boundary, and women from economically under-resourced areas.

Nominations are open until July 31st, 2026. This is open to self-nomination. If you’re nominating someone other than yourself, these candidates must consent to being nominated before you submit.

WORK! Plans to exhibit at AMOS in September 2026, and will then become a traveling exhibit featured across 8 counties in WNC. This project is funded in part by ASTC’s If/Then initiative. For guidance on how to best fill out this form, visit the Ambassador Profiles section of ASTC’s If/Then Collection.
