NCScifest: Everyday, Everywhere, Everyone

AMOS’ Oral History project on community and climate resiliency in Western North Carolina

As part of NCScifest 2025, AMOS is collecting stories from WNC residents who used their intuition, their science or engineering backgrounds, or who quickly learned a skill to help their community during and after Hurricane Helene. We are looking to capture stories from all over WNC- from folks who quickly rebuilt bridges to citizens who helped their neighbors by learning the physics of a flushing toilet.

Share your story or nominate someone to record an oral history interview with AMOS Facilitators. Selected participants for oral history interviews will be given $100 for their time, will be scheduled for interviews in March, and will be featured in our 2025 NCScifest programming.

Share your story or nominate someone here!

This project is part of AMOS’ ongoing planetary health initiative. The overarching goal of this project is to promote a future-oriented discussion on climate and community resiliency. By highlighting the individual actions taken by WNC residents during, before, and in the recovery process of Hurricane Helene, we hope to inspire our patrons to reflect on the ways they can contribute to community care and action in the face of a changing planet.
