Judith has greeted visitors since 2001 to our parent museum, the Colburn Gem and Mineral Museum, later the Colburn Earth Science Museum, and now reborn as AMOS, with a sidewalk downtown presence and many more visitors for her to welcome.

She worked for some years as a fashion illustrator and as a features writer and fashion editor for The Milwaukee Sentinel and The Chicago Daily News. Her son, Phil Cheney, is also an artist in Asheville.
Judith enjoys her friends, family and neighbors, reads, gardens, continues to paint and draw, and lives with two cats, Ginger and Charlie, who often sit briefly for their portraits.
