NCScifest: Everyday, Everywhere, Everyone

Can you help add to our interactive storymap?
The Asheville Museum of Science is collecting stories from Western North Carolina residents who learned new skills, used their hobbies, or used their science and engineering backgrounds to help their neighbors and community before, during, or after Helene. Add to the storymap by sharing your own story! We want to hear from everyone- from folks who rebuilt bridges to those who learned the physics of a flushing toilet and shared your skill with others! By sharing your story with others, you’re helping us see all the ways people can work together to turn challenges into solutions during a changing climate!

Your story will become part of our interactive storymap which will be featured in our new exhibit around planetary health opening in April 2025. It will also become a part of Buncombe County Special Collections’ “Come Hell or High Water” project! By highlighting the individual actions taken by WNC residents during, before, and in the recovery process of Hurricane Helene, we hope to inspire our patrons to reflect on the ways they can contribute to community care and action in the face of a changing planet.
