SUMMARY:Summer Science Camp - Week 4
DESCRIPTION:The discovery that happens at AMOS camps makes concrete\, measurable contributions to student success\, not only in the classroom environment\, but in broader measures of youth development\, maturity\, and career success. Each week is filled with expert-designed STEAM programming to contribute to our campers’ interest in and understanding of concepts ranging from exploring our natural world. \nWeek 4 – Animals\, Plants\, and You for grades K-2\nWelcome to Animals\, Plants\, & You for our K-2nd explorers! Campers will begin to learn about basic Biology. What are the amazing colors\, shapes\, and sizes animals can take in the world. What do plants have in common with growing Campers?\n\n>>>Register for Week 4 Grades K-2>>>\n\nWeek 4 – Life on Earth for grades 3-5\n\nWelcome to Life on Earth for our 3rd – 5th grade explorers. Campers will explore the delicate balance of ecosystems. How does life survive on our planet\, and how can we protect is as a part of that balance? Campers will learn about climate resiliency and how animals may adapt to a changing world. \n>>>Register for Week 4 Grades 3-5>>> \n>>>Register for Week 4 After Care>>> \n  \n

SUMMARY:Free Admission for WNC Residents
DESCRIPTION:AMOS invites WNC families to reflect\, grieve\, and celebrate resilience through the Our Changing World exhibit \nOn April 30\, 2025\, the Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) opened Our Changing World\, a new exhibit created to help Western North Carolina residents explore the connections between climate science and community resilience in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Since then\, the space has become a gathering point for learning\, conversation\, and reflection. \nLocal families have used Our Changing World to answer difficult questions with children. Climate scientists working downtown often stop by with colleagues. Visitors from out of town encounter stories of resilience unique to Western North Carolina—and many leave inspired to support their own communities. \n“As WNC residents ourselves\, we recognize that the anniversary of Hurricane Helene may resurface questions\, feelings\, or memories\,” said Amanda Bryant\, Executive Director of AMOS. “We want to offer Our Changing World as a quiet\, welcoming space where neighbors can process\, grieve\, and reflect.” \nTo honor the one-year anniversary of the storm\, admission to AMOS will be free to all Western North Carolina residents on Friday\, September 26\, 2025. Guests are invited to visit Our Changing World as a place of remembrance and hope. \nCost: Free admission for all residents of Western North Carolina (with valid ID showing a WNC zip code)

SUMMARY:Spin: The Science of Rotation
DESCRIPTION:Introducing our newest travelling exhibit Spin: The Science of Rotation\, brought to you in collaboration with the Catawba Science Center in Hickory\, NC. Spin is an exciting exhibit that explores the fun-and science-of objects that rotate. A truly hands-on exhibit\, Spin uses real-life cause and effect examples of the spinning science of toys\, sports\, space travel\, and even the Universe itself! \nPatrons local to the area might recognize Spin as a popular exhibit from the Health Adventure\, which shared its home in Pack Place with the Colburn Museum of Minerals from 1992-2013. Thanks to this partnership between AMOS and Catawba to revitalize and update the exhibits\, Spin is now making a “comeback” to downtown Asheville! On view now through Spring 2026.
