SUMMARY:Summer Science Camp - Week 5
DESCRIPTION:The discovery that happens at AMOS camps makes concrete\, measurable contributions to student success\, not only in the classroom environment\, but in broader measures of youth development\, maturity\, and career success. Each week is filled with expert-designed STEAM programming to contribute to our campers’ interest in and understanding of concepts ranging from exploring our natural world. \nWeek 5 – Minor Miners for grades K-2\nWelcome to Minor Miners for our K-2nd little miners. Campers will get to the heart of AMOS’ founder and dive into the world of Geology. Where do rocks come from? How do rocks change? Campers will learn about minerals in our everyday lives\, rare rocks\, and all of the things a rock can be.\n\n>>>Register for Week 5 Grades K-2>>>\n\nWeek 5 – Rock Hounds for grades 3-5\n\nWelcome to Rock Hounds for our 3rd-5th gem hunters. Campers will learn about rocks in nature and what to do if they find a cool rock! How do we identify what a rock is and what can it be used for? Campers will learn about the rocks of Western North Carolina. \n>>>Register for Week 5 Grades 3-5>>> \n>>>Register for Week 5 After Care>>> \n  \n

SUMMARY:Exploring Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Perspective \nAt this one-day collaborative workshop between the Asheville Art Museum and Asheville Museum of Science\, campers will observe and interpret the natural world from the microscopic to the landscape scale\, and practice using tools and techniques from microscopes to impressionistic landscape painting.  \nCampers who are currently in Third through Fifth Grades are eligible for this one-day workshop held on a teacher in-service day for Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools. Campers will spend half the day at the art museum and the other half at the science museum. At the art museum the campers will visit the galleries and create art in the Studio. At the science museum the campers will explore exhibits and make observations in the STEAM lab using microscopes and hand lenses.  \nCampers will be walked between the art museum at 2 South Pack Square and the science museum at 43 Patton Ave. Detailed drop off and pick up instructions will be emailed to you within a few days of the camp date. Aftercare is available at Asheville Museum of Science from 3:30 – 5:00 pm with separate registration. \nClick here to register>>> \n

SUMMARY:Summer Science Camps
DESCRIPTION:The discovery that happens at AMOS camps makes concrete\, measurable contributions to student success\, not only in the classroom environment\, but in broader measures of youth development\, maturity\, and career success. \nEach week is filled with expert-designed STEAM programming to contribute to our campers’ interest in and understanding of concepts ranging from exploring our natural world\, and computer programming to chemistry. \nIn 2026 we are offering three camp age ranges: 1) rising kindergarten and first graders\, 2) rising second and third graders\, and 3) rising fourth and fifth graders. Registration for week-long packages begins January 12 and will be open through August 2. Registration for single days of camp will be available April 13 through August 6. \nChanges This Summer\n\nThree camp age ranges:\n\nrising kindergarten and first graders\nrising second and third graders\nrising fourth and fifth graders.\n\n\nRegistration dates:\n\nWeek-long packages: January 12 through August 2\nSingle days of camp:  April 13 through August 6\n\n\nRegistering for multiple weeks or multiple campers?\n\nContact us for assistance\n828.254.7162\ncamps@ashevillescience.org\n\n\n\nSummer Camp 2026 Weekly Themes\n\nWeek 1: June 15-19: Paleontology and Archaeology: Campers will explore fossils and evidence of the past with hands-on activities.\n\nRising K-1st Week 1 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 1 Registration>>>\nRising 4th- 5th Week 1 Registration>>>\nWeek 1 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 2: June 22-26: Tinkering Workshop: Campers will be introduced to the use of tools and materials with imaginative prompts. \n\nRising K-1st Week 2 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 2 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-4th Week 2 Registration>>> \nWeek 2 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 3: June 29 – July 3: Space Explorers: Campers will explore outer space!\n\nRising K-1st Week 3 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 3 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 3 Registration>>> \nWeek 3 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 4: July 6-10: The Natural World: From animals and plants to rocks and volcanos\, campers will be surprised by the natural world.\n\nRising K-1st Week 4 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 4 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 4 Registration>>> \nWeek 4 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 5: July 13-17: The Art of Science: Campers will be amazed at the ways science and art are interconnected!\n\nRising K-1st Week 5 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 5 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 5 Registration>>> \nWeek 5 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 6: July 20-24: Chemistry: Campers will experiment with everyday chemicals to explore concepts like pH\, capillary action\, and chemical reactions.\n\nRising K-1st Week 6 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 6 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 6 Registration>>>\nWeek 6 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 7: July 27 – July 31: Forces and Energy: Campers have fun with physics concepts to make things drop\, stop and roll!\n\nRising K-1st Week 7 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 7 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 7 Registration>>>\nWeek 7 Aftercare Registration>>>\n\n\nWeek 8: August 3 – 7: The Art of Science II: Campers will continue to be amazed at the ways science and art are interconnected!\n\nRising K-1st Week 8 Registration>>>\nRising 2nd-3rd Week 8 Registration>>>\nRising 4th-5th Week 8 Registration>>>\nWeek 8 Aftercare Registration>>>
