Saturday STEAM: Climate Interactive

September 28, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

“En-ROADS: the Climate Change Solutions Simulator”

En-ROADS is an interactive, freely-available climate simulation model that provides educators, businesses, policy-makers, and the public with the ability to test climate change solutions in real-time.  En-ROADS allows users to explore a range of variables – from renewable energy, to afforestation, to energy efficiency – and the way that these different factors drive long-term climate impacts like temperature change and sea level rise.

Caroline will be presenting En-ROADS in interactive, 10-15 minute segments. These sessions will teach the audience about the different dynamics behind the En-ROADS model, and will also give participants a chance to propose and see the effects of their own climate solutions.

About Our Community Partner

Climate Interactive is an independent, not-for-profit think-tank that grew out of MIT Sloan in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Based on a long tradition of system dynamics modeling, our simulations and insights help people see connections, play out scenarios, and see what works to address climate change, inequity, and related issues like energy, health, and food.

Within Climate Interactive, Caroline Reed is a Climate Communications Associate and works with the climate analysis team to share our latest simulation tools and experiences, like En-ROADS. Caroline supports efforts across the organization to ensure everything is accessible and easy to use.
