Earthshine Nature Program is operated by its founder and Executive Director Steve O’Neil, a naturalist and science educator whose mission is to connect people with nature and misunderstood animals such as reptiles, amphibians and opossums.   Steve and ENP also works to educate others on the need for transitioning our individual lives, our society, and the world away from toxic, carbon-based, finite  fossil fuels that are harming our environment, our health, and children’s futures – to clean, domestically produced, renewable energy sources and electric vehicles because evidence supports it is the smart thing to do.

Steve is from Hendersonville, North Carolina.  He spent his early years chasing snakes, lizards and salamanders all over the mountains and beaches of North Carolina.  During his college years, Steve studied wildlife and fisheries management, recreation management, and zooarchaeology and when not in the lab or library he could be found in the classroom or fields and forests leading others in pursuit of wild animals and wild places.
