Melody Hollinger

Raised in the mountains of rural western Pennsylvania, Melody graduated from Penn State with a degree in Archaeological Science, and a minor in Soil Science. (Yes, she loves dirt that much!) After working as a cultural resource archaeologist at the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station in the Mojave Desert for five years, she decided to move to Asheville to be with her family and live near lush, green mountains again. Talking is her talent, and public communication of science, fostering scientific literacy, and inspiring critical thinking are her passions.

Previously a volunteer, Melody is very excited to join the AMOS staff and looks forward to growing with the museum. As part of the Visitor Experiences team and a part-time Educator, Melody specializes in managing the museum’s membership database and communications, while also supporting daily museum operations and educational programs.

In addition to her work and family, she very much enjoys exploring the mountains and waterfalls around Asheville, as well as trying new food and local brews.
