Girl Scout Badges
The Asheville Museum of Science is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of America in offering new STEM badge offerings for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors with a focus on Robotics! In these two to three hour workshops in the AMOS STEM lab, girls will meet our very own Rover robot, design their own robots, and learn how robots are built and programmed. “Unplugged” and LEGO based activities allow girls to earn badges in the museum without buying kits. Workshops are 1 hour long for each badge and limited to 20 girls and their chaperones.
“Girls who are interested in STEM have had greater exposure to STEM fields than girls who are not interested in STEM. STEM girls were more likely to have done hands-on science activities, gone to science/tech museums, and engaged in an extracurricular STEM activity.” —Girl Scout Research Institute, Generation STEM: What Girls Say about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, 2012
